Bits and Pieces

This month we welcome back Balqis to her work in the church office. Balqis has been away on sabbatical for eleven months, living in a Christian community in England. It has been a rich experience for her in many different ways. We pray for her, as she settles back into life and work here once again, and as she brings to our church life something of what she has learnt over the past year.

Meanwhile, we say a very big and heartfelt “Thank you” to Amra, who has done an excellent job in the office in Balqis’ absence, and whose accounting skills have been a great benefit both in the office and in the Church Council. If you haven’t seen Amra at work in the office, you will know him through his contribution to the music on Sundays, and his quiet, efficient management of the IT which enables the services to run smoothly.

During July we ran a short English Language course. It was a pilot scheme with the intention of running other workshops in the future, and a number of lessons have been learnt. Part of the cost was met from the “Outreach” fund to which many of you have been contributing generously week by week. Our thanks to all those who were involved in any way with this project.

The summer months work to a different rhythm to the rest of the year. Blessings to all of you who have stayed in town through this season.

Verse of the Day

  • Ephesians 4:29

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
